Katalina Segura
Born in Puerto Rico, Katalina Segura grew up in a very musical environment. As a young child, and into her teenage years, she participated in Puerto Rico’s traditional "bohemias". This allowed Ms Segura to develop her singing skills, and build up a vast repertoire of Latin-American songs.
Always looking to widen her musical vocabulary, she graduated as a cellist from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico.
Ms Segura’s first CD, “Pedazo de Luna”, was released in the end of 2003. It featured a collection of previously unpublished songs by the legendary composer/vocalist Sylvia Rexach.
Katalina Segura has been performing internationally. Recent performances include: Taller Latino Americano (New York), Fundacion Nilita Vientós Gastón (Puerto Rico), prestigious German venues like: Altes Parlament in Bonn, Kunstsammlung Nordheinwestfallen in Duesseldorf, Resonanzen Music Festival in Siegburg, the Kulturring in Gaggenau, and renowned jazz clubs like: The Music Village (Brussels), L'Inoui (Luxemburg), The Nuyoricans (New York), B-flat (Berlin) and Unique (Berlin).
She has been working on a brand-new repertoire consisting in a series of South American songs with fresh new arrangements, which she will present on stage and in her next recording.
